![]() ![]() Isandyr presumably took control of the revolt as his sister blames him for stealing an arc and crippling the entire faction for an unknown amount of time (ES2 starts with the faction recovering just enough to spread between the stars). This was prevented by a faction-wide slave revolt, which broke into the prison and freed him. It takes a special kind of person with unique mental fortitude to survive, but those who do become the majority of Heroes of ES2.Īccording to the Voydani prologue comic, Isandyr was imprisoned by the Voydani for his beliefs surrounding the Tabernacle of Lies and was going to be executed. They get torn apart at the cellular level (which is what happened on a certain unique planet) or they cannot handle the mental enhancements and go insane (and then presumably die). Most people who get exposed to dust don’t survive. Exposure to large quantities of dust, a nano-bot that was spread literally everywhere by the Endless, enhances a person’s mental and physical powers as well as expanding their lifespan to an unknown degree (I personally think it makes them immune to aging). The Academy doesn’t ‘create’ heroes, but rather trains them (similar to how in the Disney Hercules movie, Phil didn’t ‘create’ Hercules, but trained him). They might have been visted by academy envoys, or they might have been blessed by dust to somehow find it. Maybe then heroes pay it for academy services. In my head canon you pay dust to the hero, because they use dust like drugs, probably (lumeris story shows that). Thanks to that he would have a constant supply of Dust from Heroes' upkeeping Dont forget, that lorewise the civilisations we play arent the first in the galaxy, they just discover it anew after a dark age. The very fact, that he and his two friends discovered Nakalim prolly shows, that they had some time to build up. In my opinion the Academy was there before Isyander, he is just the most current leader. The academy just offers them guidance and a place to meet similiar folks, basically X-men mutant academy.Īt the beginning of every game you have to backtrack the steps of Heroes to find the location of Academy. Some inviduals are much more suspectible to get superpowers from it (maybe using dust kills most people, but not them?), they become heroes. Dust is everywhere (there even is a system improvement called carefull sweeping, so you can get more residue dust because its literally in the air). Isandyr EVER allow such unloyal people to be enhanced with his very own Dust? I don't have the Awakening DLC so perhaps some of my questions are easy to answer, but I think some of them are still relavant. How did he/she get there without giving away the location of the Academy? How did they know where to find Major Factions? How did they find the Academy in the first place - has every faction in the game had a bunch of madmen who stole a few ships and tried to find the Academy until one was lucky enough to do so? Why is the starting Hero always the same race as the Major Civ? How did the Minor Civs get to Academy? Why is there an ability to lessen the cost of upkeeping you Hero - doesn't it compromise Isandyr's mission given to Heroes? And lastly: why do Heroes still work for factions who stand at the Defenders side of conflict? Does it mean that opinions about the revival of the Lost are divided even among the Heroes and if so, why would Isandyr EVER allow such unloyal people to be enhanced with his very own Dust? And here is where my mind says "I don't get it".Įvery empire starts with one Hero. At the beginning of every game you have to backtrack the steps of Heroes to find the location of Academy. Isandyr and his two friends were the first ones to set foot in the Academy for millenia, and looking at the gameplay and the fact that Academy too starts at levely 1 and then continously rises in power and gives birth to more powerful Heroes (plus the fact that the Nakalim were just awakened) it seems obvious that the Isandyr must have discovered the Academy not a very long time ago. But here is a part which I don't unserstand. Thanks to that he would have a constant supply of Dust from Heroes' upkeeping and become very influential, as lorewise the Heroes would most likely become not only leaders of one simple fleet/system, but also an advisor to the Major Faction Leaders. Then Isandyr decided to make the Academy a seat of political power through enhancing people to become the Heroes we all know and love to put on our fleets or systems. ![]() So, we know that it was discovered by Isandyr and two of his closest allies, they also awakaned the Nakalim race. Or rather the mechanics behind it - for the same of simplicity I will be talking only about the Academy we know from ES2. Hello everyone, I have a question about the Academy. ![]()
